Scent Wearing & Layering Guide

The Art of Applying Scent. Fragrance is more than an olfactive statement. It is an act of self-expression. Whether you are just beginning your olfactive journey or are a seasoned connoisseur, mastering this ritual matters.

How to Wear a Fragrance. To allow a fragrance to fully evolve on your skin, here are a few tips:

  • The Pulse Points. Apply your signature perfume to the wrists, base of the neck or inner elbows. These areas act as natural “diffusers”, slowly unveiling the scent’s architecture.
  • Mist, Don't Rub: After spraying it, let the fragrance air-dry. Rubbing your wrists together may dissipate prematurely the delicate top notes, causing the fragrance to lose its brightness.
  • The Hydration Secret: Fragrance lasts longest on hydrated skin. Drink plenty of fluids. Applying an unscented moisturizer before you apply your perfume "locks in" the scent for a lingering sillage.

Layering 101. Layering scents is the process of combining two scents or fragrances to create something entirely unique.

Safety in Layering. When layering fragrances, safety and skin health are as important as the final, constructed scent itself. Since you are applying more than 1 products to the same area, it is essential to consider how your skin reacts to the fragrances.

  •  Before experimenting with a new combination, perform a patch test. Apply the duo scents to a small, healthy skin area on the inside of your wrist, to ensure that no sensitivity or other reaction occur.
  •         Limit layering to maximum 2 scents, if you tolerate it well.
  •             Layering only one time per week.

Be mindful of sun exposure:

  • Certain natural ingredients, particularly citrus oils (bergamot, lemon etc) can be photosensitive. If you are layering bright, citrus-heavy scents, avoid applying them to the skin that will be directly exposed to intense sunlight.
  •  Ensure that your "base layer” has fully settled before adding the next one. This allows you to evaluate how each scent interacts with your skin.

With these safety tips in mind, start layering two scents from the same, similar or opposite families to create new versions.

  • Apply your favorite Woody scent first, then spray a Floral or Aquatic scent on top. The woody base provides a sturdy "anchor," while the floral scent will embrace it, “opening” it up. The Aquatic scent added to the woody base will elevate the scent, adding brightness and lightness to the composition.
  • Pair a deep, rich Amber fragrance with a sharp, green Herbaceous scent. The warmth of the amber rounds out the sharpness of the greens, creating a sophisticated elegance. If the concentration of the herbaceous scent is higher than that of the amber fragrances, the fresh, sometimes spicy scent will prevail
  • The order, amount and concentration of the scents applied matter.

Examples:

  • Morning: Aquatic + Ambery. Polished, calm, commanding.
  • Day, Weekend: Floral + Aquatic. Effortless, sunny, inviting.
  • Evening: Ambery + Floral or Ambery + Aquatic. Mysterious, sensual, appealing, intriguing.

Your Personal Discovery. The most beautiful scent is the one that moves you. We invite you to experiment—spray your scarf, mist the air before you walk through, or wear a different scent on each wrist to see how they speak to one another throughout the day.

Olfactive memory is the most long-lasting form of memory. Make your scent journey a masterpiece.
